On the pontoons people are whispering: The French boats are almost all using the plans of the architect Guillaume Verdier, making the boats lot lighter, making them faster down the wind. But are those boats reliable enough ? Alex Thomson, using Farr plans on his Hugo Boss, is more confident than ever finishing this race and benefits gains on long-term (http://www.vendeeglobe.org/en/news/article/2265/alex-thomson-the-french-favourites-won-t-finish.html) . But don’t forget the severe delamination in the first part of last Vendee Globe making Alex Thomson to pull out the race (http://thistrainisforgourock.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/hugoboss.jpg?w=300&h=186 )
At the end we’ll know the truth.

On the 27th of March 2012 The Twizzle attended the St Barths Regatta
The Twizzle blog writes:
What a terrific Bucket Regatta, with St Barths in all its finery! 47 yachts entered this year with Twizzle being the heaviest ad second longest after the new Heterios (went aground on the first race and did not finish). The yachts were split into four divisions this year and the Peter Craig, the Principal Race Officer, did a terrific job of keeping yachts seperated around the marks. Jim Teeters did a superb job of rating every yacht resulting in the most exciting finishes for many a regatta. The last days race (Around the Island the Wrong Way) was just brilliant, with a Spinnikar start and finish, with Twizzle sailing briliantly, coming in 3rd in its Mademoiselle Class (including all the Dubois designs) and 10th overall, being pipped at the post by just ONE second by Ranger the J Class racing yacht.
At the end of the Bucket Twizzle came 3rd in its class and 12th overall out of 47 yachts - a testiment to Twizzle’s extrodinary Race and Permenant Crew, lead by John Cutter as tactician, Piet van Os as navigator, Yerin Hobsen as Deck Crew leader and Race Crew organiser and not least Captain Gordon Percy of Twizzle on helm!
Racing has improved Twizzle beyond all recognition and it was wonderful to see how calm, professional and effortless the crew was handling this huge sailing yacht in Race consitions. Racing Gybes and kite hoisting were no problem, even on the technically challanging short course on Day 2.
Congratulations to the Dubois designed Lady B on a superbly sailed competation, winning our class outright and coming 2nd overall! Twizzle and crew are looking forward to the Loro Piana Regatta in Sardinia on the 5th June 2012.
